Speaker Biography

In 2015 Dan became an amateur radio operator (ham) and since then founded the Murray Amateur Radio Club (current president), Emergency Coordinator for Salt Lake County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), an Assistant EC for ARES, Principal Director of Utah SAG, Inc., board member of a nationally recognized ham radio training group called RATPAC, principal instructor for CMU (Citizens Militia of Utah) for Emergency Preparedness, Navigation with a compass and map, communications, and Chief of Medical.

Dan serves as his Stake’s Emergency Communications Specialist and has been training local congregation leaders emergency communications for the past 10 years.

Dan has close ties with the founder of Safe Harbor Alliance (Jim Phillips) who has since passed on. Dan has 100’s of hours having Jim as his mentor. Dan’s wish is to continue Jim’s legacy with the things he has taught in order to get people ready, if only they’d listen.

Dan speaks to radio clubs all over the US and even has a plan to help non-hams to communicate after a grid-down event.

Dan lives in Murray, Utah and is willing to speak throughout Salt Lake and adjacent counties. He does not charge for speaking.
